The banquet of the ICOS congress will be held in Restaurant Sipuli (‘onion’) on Thursday 22nd August at 18:00–23:00. The restaurant is housed in a historic red brick warehouse close to the Uspenski Cathedral, which is the main cathedral of the Orthodox Church of Finland and the largest Greek Orthodox church in Northern Europe. Sipuli is an exceptional and versatile restaurant and events venue. It is one of Helsinki’s most popular venues for business events and private celebrations alike.
The restaurant is located at Kanavaranta 7, 00160 Helsinki, only 600 metres from the main building of the University. The dinner takes place at the lovely Winter Garden of the restaurant. Our menu will represent traditional Finnish cuisine with local fish and other delicacies. Special diets are also taken into account. We hope that you will enjoy the banquet in the company of fellow onomasticians – and young musicians from Helsinki University Symphony Orchestra playing classical and modern Finnish music to us!
