The Individualized Drug Therapy Research Program brings together groups involved in basic, translational and clinical drug research. The synergistic interdisciplinary combination of experts in in vitro and animal models, pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenetics, systems pharmacology and modeling, as well as clinical research in major therapeutic areas forms a cutting-edge center of individualized drug therapy.

The INDIVIDRUG program at the University of Helsinki has been designated a Certara Academic Center of Excellence, joining a select group of leading global institutions advancing model‑informed drug development (MIDD). This recognition highlights INDIVIDRUG’s strong contributions to pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and data‑driven approaches to personalized medicine.
As part of this designation, Certara provides INDIVIDRUG with access to its industry‑standard Phoenix software suite, supporting both research and teaching in modern pharmacometric methods. COE partners also contribute to the broader scientific community through public webinars, curriculum integration, and the use of Certara tools in publications.
Becoming a Certara Center of Excellence strengthens INDIVIDRUG’s international collaboration network and enhances the program’s capacity to train the next generation of experts in personalized therapeutics and computational drug development.
