Journey through vanishing ice: From Vancouver to Nuuk in 24 days
In July 2017, a team of researchers and journalists joined the crew on board the Finnish icebreaker MSV Nordica to witness the changes global warming has brought into the Arctic. Even though navigating through the fabled Northwest Passage has become much easier, mariners still have to face extreme conditions. Assistant professor Daria Gritsenko recounts her experiences sailing the Arctic and takes us through the Northwest Passage in pictures and thoughts.
The Pacific Crest Trail: Hiking from Mexico to Canada
After a decade spent working in ad agencies, Isko Salminen quit his job and set out to hike the 2659 mile Pacific Crest Trail from the Mexican border to Manning Park in Canada. What started as a record snow year in the Sierra turned into a record wildfire season. 2017 - the year of fire and ice. Isko unloads his bag of photos and stories of his adventure on the Pacific Crest Trail. Foreword by philosopher Michiru Nagatsu.
