Swedish language requirements

The faculty may decide that language skills demonstrated in a Swedish-language entrance examination serve as sufficient proof of proficiency in Swedish.

As regards education offered by the Faculty of Behavioural Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine as well as subject teacher education, exceptions may be made to these requirements.

Statements by individual language teachers on an applicant’s language skills are unacceptable, as they cannot be compared with standardized language tests.

Basic education, an upper secondary qualification or another qualification providing eligibility for higher education, completed in the Swedish language is the requirement.

Suffcient skills in Swedish are indicated by:

  • Mother tongue test in Swedish matriculation examination with a minimum grade of approbatur
  • Swedish as a second language test with a minimum grade of cum laude approbatur
