Professor of Food Economics
Bodo Steiner is Professor of Food Economics and deputy director at the Department of Economics & Management, University of Helsinki, head of the research group Food Economics and Business Management For Sustainable Food Systems, as well as Adjunct Professor at the University of Alberta, Department of Resource Economics & Environmental Sociology. He earned a Ph.D. from the University of Reading (Agricultural & Food Economics), and previously, has held faculty and visiting appointments at the University of California - Berkeley, University of Alberta (Associate Professor with tenure), University College Cork, University of Southern Denmark, University of Kiel, and Beijing Normal University. He is member of The Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science, HELSUS, The InterTran Research Group for Sustainable Business and Law, University of Helsinki and Aalto University School of Business, Collaborating Researcher in the ECOMAS Research Group for Economics, Environment, Sustainability and Tourism at TIDES Institute at the University of Las Palmas Gran Canaria, member of the editorial board, Journal of Food Products Marketing, and part of the advisory board, The Institute for the Economy for the Common Good, Switzerland. His research interests focus on triple-bottom-line sustainability in food systems, and relate to organizational studies and business management issues in agri-food value chains and value networks.
