The Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM) is an international research institute focusing on human genomics and personalised medicine at the Helsinki Institute of Life Science (HiLIFE) of the University of Helsinki.

FIMM integrates molecular medicine research, technology centre and biobanking infrastructures under one roof, promoting translational research in grand challenge projects, specifically, the impact of genome information from the Finnish population in personalised health and medicine, individualised cancer medicine, and digital molecular medicine. FIMM is part of the Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine, composed of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and the centres for molecular medicine in Norway, Sweden and Denmark, and the EU-LIFE Community.

We are now looking for a

A Research Coordinator
for a three-year fixed appointment with the possibility of extension.

As a Research Coordinator, you will be working within HiLIFE at the very centre of the FIMM international research institute. Your primary duty will be to act as support to the director of FIMM in strategic management. Central tasks include assisting the director in establishing, developing and promoting international networks (including the EMBL network). In addition, you will be able to be engage in research activities in the area of FIMM Grand Challenges.

An appointee to the position of Research Coordinator shall hold a doctoral degree and have evidence of scholarly research work. The position of Research Coordinator shall require the ability to administer research projects and their finances. We value experience within research institutes and university administration. You are energetic, cooperative and possess excellent interaction and networking skills. You communicate well in English and ideally also Finnish.

The salary is based on level 5-7 (negotiable depending on the experience of the individual) of the job requirement scheme for teaching and research staff in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance. The position is offered with a six-month trial period.

Among the responsibilities:
•Coordination of scientific interactions and other tasks with EMBL network
•Develop and manage international institutional relationships and programs between FIMM and other universities and research institutes
•Strategic planning for FIMM in HiLIFE and support for the Director in managing trans-HiLIFE activities
•Coordinating and organizing the development of collaborative research/funding proposals between FIMM and other local institutions
•Coordinating new education / outreach activities - both in Finland and globally
