in the Fifth Dimension Green Roof and Wall Research Group ( The position is full-time and will last for 16 months. The planned starting date of the position is in April/May 2017.

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral researcher with a PhD in green roof research, plant ecology, urban ecology, environmental sciences, horticulture, or a related field. In addition to standard plant inventory and statistical analysis techniques, a successful applicant is expected to be a dauntless field worker on green roofs, capable to contact various stakeholders, supervise internships/Master’s theses, and to work together with doctoral students and collaborate with peers in an interdisciplinary research community consisting of scientists from several universities. Experience in public relations as well as applicability to international funding schemes (e.g. Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship) are considered an advantage. Excellent English communication skills (oral and written) are expected; skills in Finnish are an asset.

The postdoctoral researcher will be employed on a full-time, fixed term, one year four months contract, with a four-month probation. An extension is possible, depending on funding and performance. The salary will be based on level 5 of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel of the salary system of the Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance. The starting level salary is approximately 3 100 euros/month.
