ISEW Library 2019
Helsinki University Library invites library professionals from universities and other academic institutions in Europe to take part in the program offered by the state-of-the-art academic library. Welcome to the largest multidisciplinary university library in Finland!
ISEW Library 2019 is currently in the planning phase, and will take place from June 10 until June 14, 2019.
The program will run from Monday morning until Friday afternoon.
The ISEW Library program is targeted at library professionals with varied backgrounds working in the universities or other research orientated libraries (such as research institutions, government offices) with interest in sharing ideas, benchmarking of practices and networking with international colleagues.
The language of the program is English.
The programme of ISEW Library consists of presentations by both the hosting team in Helsinki and the ISEW participants selected for the week, joint group work exercises and other interactive tasks.
The themes covered during the ISEW Library will include (but may not be limited to):
- Changing Library Space and Service Design
- Library Enabling Research: Open Science, Visibility, Data Management Services etc.
- Information Literacy
- Professional Development

The participation to this popular staff exchange programme will be through the application process only.
The application period will be from January 21 until February 18 (3 pm EET), 2019. The electronic application form will be available online during the application period.
The participants for ISEW Library program will be selected based on the applicant's individual application. The completed application form should include:
- a motivation letter
- short introduction to the applicant’s own contribution(s) to the ISEW programme's theme(s)
- the applicant’s CV.
The applicants are encouraged to include any specific themes of interest in their motivation letter.
The applications will be assessed based on the applicant’s motivation letter and the contribution(s) the applicant is willing to provide for the ISEW programme. Helsinki University Library will value the applicant's own contributions in sharing good practices and ideas during ISEW Library. These can be carried out in form of small presentations, group work exercises or other interactive tasks.
Helsinki University Library will also consider the geographical and linguistic diversity of the group while selecting the participants.
All applicants will be notified of the results of the application process.
Successful applicants will receive more detailed information with the letter of acceptance.
Participation in the scheduled program is free of charge for all the participants.
Other costs such as the accommodation and the travel to and in Helsinki are to be covered by the participants.
Helsinki University Library will book accommodation for successful applicants in the Töölö Towers.
