Rectification Instructions

In this page you will find instructions on how to appeal against the decision. Please note that there are no grounds for an official appeal, when your application documents have not met the minimum requirements. Only if you believe a severe mistake was made in the processing of your application documents, you can appeal against the decision.

An applicant, not satisfied with his/her decision, can appeal against it by submitting a request for rectification to the Director of Development /Academic Affairs (University Act, clause 82).

The request must arrive at the latest on 5th April, 2016 at 15:45 (GMT +2).The request for rectification can be submitted to the Admissions services by regular mail (Street address: Fabianinkatu 33, ground floor / mailing address: P.O. BOX 3, FI-00014 University of Helsinki, FINLAND) or by email: minimum-requirements@helsinki.fi. Do not send your appeal to the faculty. If you use an international courier service the address is as mentioned above.

The request for rectification must be done in writing and it is addressed to the Director of Development/Academic Affairs. The appeal must include:

  • A reference to the decision that is appealed against
  • The sections of the decision that need to be changed and the changes that are requested; as well as
  • The supporting documents the applicant refers to as the grounds for the appeal, unless these have been submitted earlier to UAF

The letter must include the name and application number of the person submitting the rectification, as well as a valid email address, where the notifications related to this issue can be sent.
