If you do not register for attendance or non-attendance during the registration time (1.5.-31.8.) you will lose your right to pursue a degree at the University of Helsinki. This however does not apply to students pursuing specialist studies in medicine or dentistry. Please note, that if you fail to register as either attending or non-attending, the elapsed time is included in your target study time.
If your normative duration of study ended on July 31, 2017, and you have been registered as either attending or non-attending as well as applied for/received an extension from your Faculty, then you do not have to pay a re-enrolment fee even though you register outside the acutal registration time.
The process for reactivating your right to study depends on the time when you apply for readmission.
Returning during the academic year when you forgot to register
If you, after having failed to register at the University, wish to register as an attending or non-attending student during the same academic year i.e. before 31 July of the following year, then you have to pay the re-enrolment fee. Payment and registration instructions available below.
If you wish to continue your studies after July 31, then you have to apply for readmission into the faculty. The application for readmission has to be addressed to the faculty where you held the right to pursue a degree. If you held the right to pursue a degree in several faculties, then you can submit the application(s) to the faculties in which you wish to continue studying.
Once the faculty has activated you right to study, please see below for the payment and registration information.
