Teachers' Climate Change Forum 2019

Summer Camp for Teachers

Hyytiälä summer school

The Teachers' Climate Change Forum (TCCF) 2019 Summer Camp for Teachers will be organized in Hyytiälä, Finland, Europe, on August 5th – 7th, 2019.

Teachers from all levels of education and of different subjects are welcomed to apply for the Summer Camp. Also teacher students (i.e. students studying to become teachers) may apply.

At the TCCF 2019 Summer Camp, the participants will get acquainted with internationally renowned and appreciated, top-level climate research and researchers in unique Finnish lakeside environment.

The Summer Camp is organized by the Science Education Centre and the Institute for Atmospheric and Earth System Research (INAR) from the University of Helsinki, Finland.

The Summer Camp is partly funded by the Magnus Ehrnrooth Foundation.

The aim of the Summer Camp is to develop participants' skills to address climate change and global warming from pedagogically meaningful and diverse perspectives, but also pay attention in different beliefs and attitudes.

A key objective is also to build a multidisciplinary network of teachers at different levels of education, where teachers can share their ideas, experiences and skills after the course and work in their own learning communities as mentors who support their colleagues in the topic.

The Summer Camp provides participants with state-of-the-art research on climate change and climate education as well as with various useful practical tips, ideas and materials for implementing climate context into everyday teaching.

The workload of the Summer Camp in ECTS is 1 credit.

After the Summer Camp all participants will get a diploma/certificate.

The Summer Camp provides added value to the TCCF 2019 Online Course. For example, one of the goals for the Summer Camp is to increase the sense of community among the participants of the TCCF 2019 Online Course.

We strongly recommend all applicants to attend the Online Course. (Later, we especially encourage those who have been selected to the Summer Camp, to attend the Online Course by August 3rd, 2019.)
