The purpose of group visits is to expand pupils’ understanding of and thinking about geography, to inform them of the study prospects in geography and to introduce them to the latest research methods.

During a typical visit, an upper-secondary school group will find out about the research, studies and facilities of the degree programme in geography and complete assignments using LibreOffice spatial data software. The content of the visit can be tailored to pedagogically fit the ongoing course. The duration of the visit can also be changed to accommodate your schedule, but we suggest a two-hour visit. The visit can also include data collection in the surrounding area using satellite navigation. We can also teach pupils how Open Street Maps are updated with satellite images of crisis areas to support relief work.  This way the visit can combine cartography, remote sensing, regional problems and relief work.
