The new "Sustainability and AI" online course explores different dimensions of AI sustainability. The course consists of four video lectures, accompanied by an optional assignment. The lectures are delivered by Sara Pyykölä, a doctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki.
What Will You Learn?
During the course, you will learn, for example:
- What sustainable AI and the sustainable use of AI mean
- What AI requires to function and what influences its environmental footprint
- How AI works from a technical perspective
- How to apply the knowledge gained to your own work
The course provides information on the sustainability of AI for anyone interested in the topic. It is particularly aimed at entrepreneurs. The course has been developed as part of the GENGREEN project, which supports the sustainable business skills of SMEs and especially women entrepreneurs through education and Nordic networking. The project is funded by the Interreg Aurora Programme of the European Union.

The course is available on DigiCampus, a shared online learning platform for Finnish higher education institutions. To access the course, users need to register using e.g. a Google account or Haka credentials. After registering, the course can be accessed via the link above. The course is free of charge, open to everyone, and can be completed at your own pace. All lectures are in English.
The "Sustainability and AI" course builds on the project's previously published
