The Service Centre for Continuous Learning and Employment's (SECLE) / Jatkuvan oppimisen ja työllisyyden palvelukeskus (JOTPA), has granted government assistance to our project at the University of Helsinki and the University of Vaasa, aimed at strengthening innovation expertise in industrial wood construction.
The joint project will develop a 15-credit module called "Innovation Expertise Towards a Green Transition in the Built Environment," which aims to promote responsible business practices and the development and implementation of sustainable innovations in the construction sector, while also supporting society's transition towards a carbon-neutral future.
The course consists of two study modules implemented on the MOOC.fi platform and a mini-project module where participants address practical challenges provided by industry stakeholders. The University of Helsinki acts as the main coordinator of the project, with the University of Vaasa as a co-executor. The mini-project module includes Viikki Wood & Forest InnoHub, established last year within the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, and the project also involves HY+, the University of Helsinki's continuing education company, which offers services supporting professional skills and career planning for participants in continuing education.
The study module will be available for completion in October 2025, and the project will end in spring 2026. The contents of the study modules will be utilized in degree programs and continuing education after the project, as well as in the development of Viikki Wood & Forest InnoHub activities.
