Lynx in the news

In Finland, people are seeing more and more lynx close to their homes and . Probably the biggest reason is that the lynx population has grown a lot in the last few years, but also the use of deer feeding stations plays a role. Especially roe deer can adapt to cultural landscapes.

Owl bioacoustics

WildER post doc, Hanna Rosti, was featured on the in Finland for her work with owl bioacoustics. On the same day we hosted an owl evening here at Lammi Biological Station which packed our lecture hall to capacity. A video of the presentations is available .

Hidden Paws video game

is an 8-bit web-based video game inspired by the research of WildER researcher Francesca Malcangi.

Designed to educate and entertain, the game explores the profound impact of human activity on forest ecosystems, focusing on the survival of the Eurasian lynx in Finland.

Gameplay: Navigate increasingly challenging levels as the forests degrade, mirroring real-world environmental pressures.

Purpose: Understand how forest degradation and human expansion threaten wildlife.

Mission: Raise awareness while providing a nostalgic and interactive gaming experience.

Amphipod crustacean evolution
