  • 9 April 2020: Our latest paper by Karttunen and Kurppa et al. "Large-eddy simulation of the optimal street-tree layout for pedestrian-level aerosol particle concentrations – A case study from a city-boulevard" was published online in Atmos. Env.
  • 1 April 2020: First summer student Jesse Soininen working in the Academy of Finland funded CarboCity started today. He will be responsible for the carbon sequestration and local climate measurements made in Helsinki over different urban green areas. Welcome!
  • 23 March 2020: PhD candidate Minttu Havu got 3-year funding from Tiina and Antti Herlin foundation to work with urban carbon storage by using different measurements and modelling. Congrats!
  • 11-16 Jan 2020: M. Kurppa presented her work on Including Aerosol Dynamic Processes in LES: Evaluation and Application at the American Meteorological Society 100th Annual Meeting held in Boston, US.
  • 22 May 2019: Consortia project CarboCity between Urban met and FMI was funded by The Academy of Finland for period 2019-2020. During project we will measure and simulate the carbon flows of urban vegetation in different global cities. 
  • 6-10 August 2018: Our group attends the Internationa Conference of Urban Climate in NY, US, where we have four oral presentations! Looking forward for the conference!

  • 25 May 2018: Leena Järvi presenting the urban meteorology observations at the INAR climate festival.
  • 24 May 2018: Urban meteorology group present at the Smart and Sustainable Cities conference in Moscow.
  • 22 May 2018: New paper on urban eddy covariance measurement uncertainties now under discussion in AMT.
