InterTran and CMI Guest Lecture: Dr. Abhinayan Basu Bal

The InterTran Research Group for Sustainable Law and Business in collaboration with the Finnish Maritime Law Association (CMI) invite you to a guest lecture by Dr. Abhinayan Basu Bal of the University of Gothenburg on: “Model Law on Electronic Transferable Records: Supply Chain Finance in Perspective”.

During the talk Dr. Basu Bal will explore the commercial opportunities in paperless trade mainly from a trade finance perspective. He will also focus on the challenges and opportunities for the adoption of UNCITRAL’s Model Law on Electronic Transferrable Records.

The lecture will take place on Tuesday, 2nd of October from 4-6pm in the main building of the University of Helsinki (Päärakennus sali 10, Fabianinkatu 33, 3rd floor).

Dr. Basu Bal lectures and researches in the field of international trade and maritime law at the University of Gothenburg. His research interests lie in maritime law, paperless trade and trade finance. Since 2007 he has actively participated in the deliberations of UNCITRAL’S Working Group III (Transport Law) and Working Group IV (Electronic Commerce). He currently works as Assistant Professor at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg. Previously Dr. Basu Bal worked at Lund University and was responsible for the delivery of the Master’s programme in Maritime Law. He obtained his Ph.D. at the World Maritime University in Malmö, Sweden.
