On October 17th the InterTran Research Group for Sustainable Law and Business in collaboration with the Finnish Maritime Law Association (CMI) held the first annual lecture on international and maritime law. For this first instalment of the lecture series we were honoured to welcome Dr. Svante O. Johansson, Judge of the Supreme Court of Sweden as a speaker, lecturing on the topic of
“Conventions, regulators and national (Scandinavian) law – Harmony or turmoil?”
The lecture was followed by a discussion and a small reception. The event brought together interested professionals from the field, students from the courses of International Commercial Transport and Insurance and International Sale and Payment at the University of Helsinki, as well as staff of the faculty of law.
In addition to his guest lecture, Dr. Johansson also gave a lecture on marine insurance as part of his teaching at the University of Helsinki.
The organizers would like to thank Dr. Johansson for his interesting insights and contributions. We are looking forward to the next instalment of this lecture series.
