This season's opening episode of Mielen puolikkaat podcast features our research community member, Juho Honkasilta, a lecturer in education at the University of Helsinki and a long-time researcher on ADHD.
The discussion explores the increasing prevalence of ADHD diagnoses and how diagnostic language and neuropsychiatric terms are shaping public debate. According to Honkasilta, difference and diversity are also being increasingly “commodified,” raising critical questions about diagnoses and the meaning of neuropsychiatric explanations from the perspective of an individual and society.
At the same time, he emphasizes that people’s lived experiences and support needs are real and must be addressed through both social and structural solutions.
The episode is available on major podcast platforms (in Finnish), including Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
