Antibiotic resistance in Indonesia

The project is conducted to provide database on antibiotic resistome profiles in Indonesian environments. The database will be thus proposed as general recommendations and can be used to provide information as the ground for risk assessment and regulation in Indonesia on antibiotic use.

The detailed objectives are:

  • To produce data on the amount of AR genes in the relevant environments, i.re. samples taken from major rivers, wastes from hospitals, animal production facilities and aquaculture farms
  • To assess the risk of the dissemination of the AR genes related to public health and water environment
  • To produce basis on the key actions for monitoring and controlling the antibiotic resistance in Indonesia
  • To train Indonesian scientists to monitor and combat the antibiotic resistance
