Field campaign in Abisko-Stordalen

As part of the NPERM project, funded by Research Council of Finland, nitrous oxide (N2O) and carbon monoxide (CO) fluxes were measured using eddy covariance in Abisko-Stordalen from August 2022 to September 2024 covering both vegetative and winter periods.

As part of the NPERM project, funded by Research Council of Finland, nitrous oxide (N2O) and carbon monoxide (CO) fluxes were measured using eddy covariance in Abisko-Stordalen from August 2022 to September 2024 covering both vegetative and winter periods. This was the first time that N2O and CO fluxes by eddy covariance were measured in the Stordalen mire.

Abisko-Stordalen is a sub-arctic peatland located in northern Sweden and labeled as an ICOS 2 Ecosystem station in 2022. More information about the measurement site can be found on the ICOS website.

The N-PERM project is a research collaboration between the University of Helsinki, University of Eastern Finland and the Abisko Scientific Research station. It aims to understand the N2O budget of permafrost region. We would like to thank the Abisko Scientific Station for their technical support and assistance during the field campaign.
