Zahra received her PhD in Nanobiotechnology. Her PhD thesis focused on using mesoporous silica nanoparticles and nanofibrous mats as carriers for antibiotics. During her PhD, she visited the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) at Aarhus University, Denmark, and the Pharmacy Department at Åbo Akademi, Finland. 2019, she started a Postdoc at the physics department of Åbo Akademi, where she worked on bioelectronic platforms for the manipulation of cell function. Early 2022, she joined the Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology group in the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Helsinki, where she works on stimuli responsive liposomes (pH and light) as carriers for small and large molecules, cellulose hydrogel and AMR biofilm. 2024, she received Academy research fellow on Ligand-gated liposomes. Her interests particularly are inspired by biological machineries which she intends to mimic their precision and dynamicity in Nanobiomaterials.
Paria earned her Pharm-D from Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) in Tehran, Iran. Following her graduation, she spent approximately three years working as a pharmacist with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and in various pharmacies. In 2023, she began her PhD studies at the University of Helsinki, focusing on the eradication of antimicrobial-resistant (AMR) multispecies biofilms. Her research involves exploring multiple mechanisms to combat these biofilms.
Anton studied Pharmacy and graduated in 2024 from Leipzig University in Germany. During his studies he gained experience in tissue engineering and drug development in the pharmaceutical industry. His PhD project at the University of Helsinki investigates ligand-gated liposomes for target responsive drug delivery.
