Research group draws from the sustainability framework and examines the perceptions of the people and stakeholders, revolutionary technologies ranging from digital solutions to biotechnologies, and novel forms of emerging economies such as platform economy, sharing economy and bioeconomy.
Research group combines three core elements:
1. Research emphasises stakeholders' perspectives (often from their view and described in their own words)…
2. …combined with novel technologies (e.g., cellular agriculture, digital platforms and biodiversity monitoring technologies)…
3. …and sometimes the principles, prospects and alternatives of emerging economic activities
An aspiration to better understand individual, social, and cultural practices characterises the group's research. Research projects combine approaches from the social sciences with mainly qualitative research methods and data.
Externally funded research projects focus on four themes:
1. Future food systems from the stakeholders’ perspective (e.g. cellular agriculture)
2. Grand challenges of the food system (EU’s biodiversity goals & soil mission)
3. Digital development of rural regions (Digital platforms, GIS, twin transition)
4. Regional data analytics (Register and company datasets)
Human in Digital and Sustainable Economies research group unites curious minds from various scientific disciplines to tackle the shared and contemporary challenges. The group brings together a unique mix of expertise ranging from applied economics, design and industrial ecology to social and economic geography.
