The study and it's funding is administrated through University of Helsinki (FIMM and Research Programs Unit),Folkhälsan Research Center, Hospital district of Helsinki and Uusimaa and Lund University in Malmö.

The study is conducted in collaboration with the Health Centres in Vaasa, Närpiö, Korsholm and Malax. Botnia-study is also collaborates with the Central Hospital of Vaasa and Folkhälsan Östanlid in Pietarsaari.
