August 19: Visualising the EP2024 data with Emilia Palonen & the tech team responsible for cleaning the data collected during the European parliament elections in spring 2024 

September 9: Central East European politics with Alexander Alekseev, Ilana Hartikainen, and Katinka Linnamäki, three HEPP doctoral researchers preparing to submit their dissertations. Discussant: Libora Oates-Indruchová, Professor of Gender Sociology, University of Graz.  

September 16: The Blue Crab Invasion and Populist Rhetoric: The Vilification of Invasive Species as an Instrument for Populist Hegemony, Luca Canonico Johnson

September 30: Seminar on datafication, with Dayei Oh discussing a funding application and Fiza Vasudeva discussing her chapter on Anti-populism and Status Quo bias - Case of I.N.D.I.A 

October 7: Seminar on the EP2024 election data, with Emilia Palonen and Tomi Toivio: Audio Visual Campaign for the European Parliament: presenting a multi-project, multi-country study from the TikTok and Instagram 

October 21: Social Media and Political Mobilization in Africa with Matti Pohjonen and Amanuel Kebede from HSSH 

October 28: HEPP x Rajapinta joint seminar with Viljami Vaarala, Nuppu Pelevina, Emilia Palonen, and Oscar Winberg 

November 4: US Election Extravaganza seminar with Lani Hartikainen talking about what even the most clued in non-American observers still might not know about US politics and Zea presenting on Banana populism in the 2024 campaign season 

November 11: A seminar on new research ideas, with Kinga Polynczuk-Alenuis presenting her grant proposal on Journalism and democracy beyond the Enlightenment and Emmi Lounela presenting her article draft on Incels and nostalgia  

November 18: Visiting Fellow Giorgios Venizelos on The Anti-Populist Logic of Pro-Vax Discourse 

November 22: Special Friday talk (13-16h) from Carole Pateman on The Sexual vs. The Social Contract
