European Human Genetics Conference in Milan, on May 24-27, 2025

Dr. Li Tian form the CLIPI group participated in the annual conference organized by the European Society of Human Genetics (ESHG) in Milan on the 24th-27th, May 2025. She presented a poster entitled “Direct and Indirect Genetic Effects of Parental Psychiatric Traits on Child Behavioural Problems”, where she reported the lately observed genetic nurturing effect of paternal neuroticism on child’s externalizing behavioural problems based on the Generation R and PREDO cohort studies.

The ESHG 2025 conference covered a broad range of scientific and societal topics on human genetics and provided a platform for the dissemination of the most exciting advancements in the field and the education of the upcoming generation of human geneticists and medical professionals with plenary, concurrent symposia, workshops, educational sessions, and poster viewing in the program. Special highlights, among numerous other equally interesting topics were, for examples, the integration of pharmacogenomic testing for diseases, such as stroke, to guide therapy choices, new blood test for cell-free RNAs to predict preterm birth over four months before delivery, or detecting thousands of proteins in a single blood test to enable rapid diagnosis of rare genetic diseases, and a call for European regulation to prevent the birth of children with inherited diseases, e.g., cancer-causing genetic mutation, after sperm donation.
