Uncovering New Perspectives on Nordic Society

Hot topics in current academic research on the Nordic region include welfare, colonialism and heterogeneity. These – as well as a host of other issues - have been the main themes of the podcast series The Nordics Uncovered: Critical Voices from the Region.

The final podcast in the series The Nordics Uncovered: Critical Voices from the Region saw editor of nordics.info Nicola Witcombe discussing current perspectives on the Nordics with two historians: Mary Hilson, Professor of History at Aarhus University in Denmark and author of the well-known book 'The Nordic Model: Scandinavia since 1945'; and Peter Stadius, Research Director at the Centre for Nordic Studies at Helsinki University, whose research interests span regionalism, the Arctic and images of the North in other countries.

Listen to discussions about traditional histories versus new perspectives, the rise of nationalism, unexpected colonialisms, challenges to equality and more when researchers from all over the Nordic countries and the US offer their unique insight into pressing issues in today’s society.
