The Faculty of Arts invites applications for the position of
UNIVERSITY LECTURER IN NORDIC STUDIES
for a term from 1 October 2019 to 31 December 2022 (locum tenens).
Nordic studies belongs to the discipline of area and cultural studies and is part of the Centre for Nordic Studies (CENS). The discipline examines how people living in a specific area experience the world, organise their society and see themselves as sharing a culture. In addition, the mission of CENS is to explore how the Nordic countries are perceived and understood by the global community and which elements constitute the Nordic brand in both space and time.
The duties of the university lecturer in Nordic studies include the provision of master’s level teaching, the supervision and examination of theses and dissertations, as well as research in the field. Duties requiring good cooperation skills include participating in the planning and development of teaching together with the other staff of the department, degree programmes and discipline. The appointee will conduct research in the field and contribute to its development. In addition, the university lecturer is expected to apply for external research funding.
