Political Violence: Historical, Philosophical and Theological Perspectives

We are happy to announce that the fourth volume of Helsinki Yearbook of Intellectual History has been published and is available as open access!

"Political Violence: Historical, Philosophical and Theological Perspectives" brings together the work of scholars from intellectual history, social sciences, philosophy and theology to evaluate political violence and aggression from historical and contemporary perspectives. It focuses on the context of the development of the idea of Europe and modern European identity within the framework of various questions, such as:

  • What is meant by political violence and aggression?
  • When and under which conditions is it justified?
  • Who has the right to exercise it and against whom?

It was edited by Panu-Matti Pöykkö , Pamela Slotte Russo and Viljami Salo and makes the fourth volume in the series of Helsinki Yearbook of Intellectual History.
