Meet the BOMPAC project team.
Jaakko Tahkokallio

Dr Jaakko Tahkokallio is a Senior Researcher in the National Library of Finland and the project leader. He is also a Docent of General history and collaborates closely with the history degree programme. Tahkokallio is interested in the production and use of Latin manuscript books in high- and late-medieval Europe and medieval intellectual history. He seeks to bring together palaeographical and quantitative approaches to medieval manuscripts.

Seppo Eskola

Dr. Seppo Eskola is a postdoctoral researcher in the Books of the Medieval Parish Church project. His dissertation focused on the bookkeeping practices of the Swedish Crown in the mid-sixteenth century, and he is broadly interested in practical literacy in the late-medieval and early modern periods. He has previously worked in several digital humanities projects including Diplomatarium Fennicum (medieval charters) and Codices Fennici (medieval and early modern manuscripts). In the present project he will focus on the administrative processes that resulted in the dismantling of medieval manuscripts from the sixteenth century onwards.

Emilia Henderson-Roche

Dr. Emilia Henderson is a postdoctoral researcher on the Books of the Medieval Parish Church project. Her PhD was a Collaborative Doctoral Partnership jointly supervised by the University of Leicester and the Ancient, Medieval and Early Modern Manuscripts department of the British Library, and examined an under-studied category of ninth-century Carolingian manuscript decoration. More broadly, her experience and interests encompass medieval palaeography, codicology, and manuscript studies, as well as the promotion and curation of special collections material. In this project she will investigate the original production circumstances and subsequent use of the medieval Swedish manuscript fragments.

Inka Timosaari

Dr Inka Timosaari is researcher in the Books of the Medieval Parish Church project. She is also Senior Lecturer in medieval history at Stockholm University. Her research interests include social and ecclesiastical history of the Middle Ages, the production and use of books, and manuscript studies in general. In this project she will focus on the palaeography and production of late medieval liturgical books in their diocesan contexts.

Maarit Koivisto

Maarit Koivisto is a project coordinator for the Books of Medieval Parish Church project. She works as an information specialist in the National Library of Finland.
