Dr. Seppo Eskola is a postdoctoral researcher in the Books of the Medieval Parish Church project. His dissertation focused on the bookkeeping practices of the Swedish Crown in the mid-sixteenth century, and he is broadly interested in practical literacy in the late-medieval and early modern periods. He has previously worked in several digital humanities projects including Diplomatarium Fennicum (medieval charters) and Codices Fennici (medieval and early modern manuscripts). In the present project he will focus on the administrative processes that resulted in the dismantling of medieval manuscripts from the sixteenth century onwards.
Dr. Emilia Henderson is a postdoctoral researcher on the Books of the Medieval Parish Church project. Her PhD was a Collaborative Doctoral Partnership jointly supervised by the University of Leicester and the Ancient, Medieval and Early Modern Manuscripts department of the British Library, and examined an under-studied category of ninth-century Carolingian manuscript decoration. More broadly, her experience and interests encompass medieval palaeography, codicology, and manuscript studies, as well as the promotion and curation of special collections material. In this project she will investigate the original production circumstances and subsequent use of the medieval Swedish manuscript fragments.
