Our group was well represented in the programme. Roya Khoshtinatnikkhoy gave a talk on Antibiotic-coated urinary catheters for prevention of catheter-associated urinary tract infections: Comparing dipping and impregnation coating strategies, presenting her work as part of the session on innovative formulation and drug delivery technologies.
On Friday, Maritta Keurulainen shared her work on Broccoli extract as a potential virulence inhibitor in uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) exploring whether broccoli extract could offer a new way of interfering with bacterial virulence. Daniel Wallinger presented his research on Metabolic adaptations in UPEC, looking at how bacterial metabolism could point towards new ways of tackling urinary tract infections.
The meeting ended on a particularly high note for Daniel, who won the Elevator Pitch Prize for his presentation.
