DSHealth Travel Grants for NorDoc activities 2018

CALL PERIOD: applications are invited from September 7-20, 2018 (4 pm) via the ONLINE APPLICATION FORM

TARGET GROUP: Doctoral candidates in DSHealth

 

DSHealth Travel Grants 2018 are targeted to the following NorDoc activities:

NorDoc courses in 2018

  • The grants are allocated based on the relevance of the course for the applicant
    (nb! courses organized by NorDoc partner institutions at http://www.nordochealth.net/courses)
  • travel grant max. 800 €/course

NorDoc research visits in 2018

  • After closing the call, potential grantees will be contacted by e-mail and asked for the invitation letter of the hosting laboratory
  • In case of visits to potential post doc laboratories, it is highly recommended that the applicant is planning to visit more than one laboratory during the same trip
  • travel grant max. 1500 €/research visit

PLEASE NOTE:

To be eligible in the call, the applicant must:

  • be affiliated with a DSHealth Doctoral Programme
  • be registered at UH for the academic year 2018-2019
  • Only 1 application/doctoral candidate will be evaluated in the call (in case of multiple submissions, the latest application will be subjected for evaluation).
  • A DSHealth doctoral candidate can be awarded max. 1 travel grant for a NorDoc course, and max. 1 travel grant for a NorDoc research visit in 2018
  • If there are no special grounds, the travel grant is to be used for the travel for which it has been applied, and for which it has been awarded
  • The travels are made following the University of Helsinki instructions for travel (see Flamma for details)

The Medicine Fund

For what purpose? Travel grants for doctoral candidates at the Faculty of Medicine

Grants will be awarded within the following focus areas of research:
- memory disorders (from the Tauno Virtanen Fund)

PURPOSE OF THE UH FUNDS' TRAVEL GRANTS
The UH Funds' Travel Grants can be applied for the following purposes:

Research visits in 2018

  • After closing the call, potential grantees will be contacted by e-mail and asked for the invitation letter of the hosting laboratory
  • In case of visits to potential post doc laboratories, it is highly recommended that the applicant is planning to visit more than one laboratory during the same trip

Scientific conferences in 2018

  • In case of conferences, either an oral or poster (1st author) presentation is required
  • The grants are allocated based on the relevance of the conference for the applicant

Scientific courses in 2018

  • The grants are allocated based on the relevance of the course for the applicant

AMOUNT OF THE GRANT:

  • Research visits max. 1500 €/trip
  • Scientific conferences: max. 800 € for a trip within Europe, and max. 1500 € for a trip overseas

For what purpose? Travel grants for doctoral candidates at the Faculty of Medicine

Grants will be awarded within the following focus areas of research:
- pulmonary diseases (in total 2 500 euros);
- child psychiatry (in total  500 euros);
- memory disorders (in total  16 830 euros from the Tauno Virtanen Fund)

The Medicine Fund

For what purpose?                    Travel grants for doctoral candidates at the Faculty of Medicine

Grants will be awarded within the following focus areas of research:
- oncology (in total 12 500 euros);
- pulmonary diseases (in total 4 800 euros);
- medical genetics (in total  5 600 euros);
- child psychiatry (in total  5 900 euros);
- memory disorders (in total  17 500 euros from the Tauno Virtanen Fund);
- neuropathology (in total 1500 euros);
- gynecology (in total 900 euros);
- surgery (in total 900 euros);
- odontology (in total  900  euros);
- research in medicine without a specifically defined focus area (14 500 euros in total)

The Pharmacy Fund
Number of grants:                     not specified (1 000 euros in total for DSHealth)
For what purpose?                    Travel grants for doctoral students belonging to Doctoral Programme in Pharmacy or conducting Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmacy degree.

The Jubilee Fund
Number of grants:                     not specified (the DSHealth share is 8 217,80 euros)
For what purpose?                    The travel grants are for doctoral studies abroad.
The travel grants are awarded for trips beginning on 1.1.2018 or later.
