Lammi Biological Station (LBS) is a research station located in the lake district of southern Finland. We are open year round and offer world class facilities for ecological and aquatic research and education. LBS invites all for research, education and seminars.

Our address is: Pääjärventie 320, 16900 LAMMI. See map.

There are three possible bus stops to get off at when coming to Lammi:

  • Biologinen asema th (Hämeenlinna)’ also known as 'Pääjärventie L and I' is at the intersection of Highway 12 and Pääjärventie, and is 2 km the Station.
  • Lammi Kirkkokallio (Hämeenlinna) is about 3 km from the Station on highway 12. This stop is often the best option when coming on the weekend.
  • Lammi linja-autoasema (Hämeenlinna) is in the center of Lammi and is about 4 km from the Station.
Science and nature trails

The Station has a 1.8 km long nature trail and a 2.0 km long science trail that wind through the forest on our property

The Station's cafeteria is well known for its quality food and our experienced chefs can create meals ranging from simple lunches to take into the field, to gourmet dinners for celebrations.

Nature-themed products

In our office, we sell nature-themed toys and books, Lammi T-shirts, and other textile products. This year, Lammi Biological Station, which is turning 70, is celebrated with a linen kitchen towel designed for the station. The design is based on the wishes of the station staff and created by Finnish graphic and pattern designer Emma Hagman. Come and explore the products at our office!
