Visit WWA

WWA welcomes research visitors (by arrangement) and is also open for guided tours.

Research stays:

WWA welcomes scholars with research interests related to Ludwig Wittgenstein or Georg Henrik von Wright for research stays at the Archives. Please submit a freely formulated application by email to the Director of WWA, Thomas Wallgren, at the address hy-wwa at helsinki.fi. The application should include

  • information about present affiliation and previous research
  • the purpose of the research stay at WWA
  • preferred time of the stay

WWA cannot presently contribute to the funding of research stays, but will help with finding accommodation at Unihome. Computers with Internet access are available for guests of WWA.

Guided tours:

In addition to its valuable research materials, much of it deriving from von G.H. von Wrights activities as one of Ludwig Wittgenstein's heirs and literary executors, WWA houses some unique memorabilia, such as Wittgenstein’s walking stick, the handkerchief used to cover his face after his death, and von Wright’s travelling typewriter from 1919.

The facilities of WWA are shown to visitors by arrangement with the Curator of WWA Bernt Österman (hy-wwa at helsinki.fi).
