The perspectives of all individuals are of equal importance in the Citizen Barometer, irrespective of factors such as place of residence, age, or personal beliefs. Participation in this initiative contributes to valuable research on Finnish society and its contemporary condition. By analyzing the values, opinions, and experiences of Finnish citizens, the Citizen Barometer serves as a significant resource for researchers across various disciplines and areas of interest.
Given our focus on the attitudes, opinions, and experiences of all citizens, participation in the Citizen Barometer does not require prior knowledge. It is essential that individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences participate to ensure that the surveys are as representative as possible of Finnish society.
Participation in the Citizen Barometer is straightforward and requires minimal time and effort. Participants receive an email 3-7 times annually, containing a link to a web-based survey. By clicking the link in the email, you can access the current questionnaire directly.
The surveys are always short and take an average of 3-10 minutes to answer. They are electronic and can be easily completed on an internet-connected device, such as a telephone, tablet, or computer.
As a means of showing our appreciation to those participating in the surveys, we regularly raffle out prizes among respondents from the randomly recruited panel.
The responses collected from the Citizen Barometer are used for scientific research and the results are published in different contexts and formats, such as scientific journals, popular scientific reports, and in the media. Regardless of format, it is never possible to identify participants, or link responses to individual respondents.
Participation in the Citizen Barometer is entirely voluntary and does not entail any obligations. You can choose to end your participation at any time.
