Decorations

At the conferment festivities, a specific etiquette also applies to the wearing of decorations.

No decorations of any kind are worn on the sword-whetting day and on the excursion.

At the conferment ceremony and dinner, state decorations are worn in accordance with the relevant guidelines, including medals awarded by the Finnish Federation of Learned Societies. Holders of Finnish decorations are obliged to wear their decorations, which are worn in full size (not miniatures). At the conferment ball, only state decorations are worn, but miniature versions are permitted as an alternative to full-size decorations.

Academic decorations and badges of merit or the ribbons of student nations and other parties are not worn in any conferment festivities.
