Student associations

Student organizations have always been a crucial part of student life in Helsinki University. There are  several active organizations at the Kumpula Campus, and we (MSc programme of Geology and Geophysics) are happy to host two of them, Vasara and Geysir. They are both very efficient organizing all sorts of happenings and parties, excursions and field trips. The best part however, is that they create a warm and welcoming studying environment where it is easy to get to know your fellow students and make friendships that last for a lifetime.

Vasara, The Geological Club is one of the oldest student organizations of University of Helsinki, founded in 1937. We have ca. 120 members that share the passion for geology and to hang out with geo-people. With weekly sport shifts, sauna evenings, various parties and other events, Vasara is an active club that has something to offer for everyone. Catch up with us in our student room Kasvis (Physicum C102, next to the entrance lobby at the Geology) or contact us by email: vasara-hallitus@helsinki.fi

Geophysics Students’ Student Union Geysir ry was established in the end of 1997. We organize various activities for our members: excursions to research institutes as well as icebreakers and marine research vessels, foreign trips, culture (movies, theaters, gigs and concerts) and social gatherings (film and sauna evenings). In addition, our student representatives ensure that our opinions are heard in the executive groups of the degree programmes.
