The Higher Education Teachers’ Professional Agency (HEdTPA) research project investigates active and skilful learning among higher education teachers and the factors contributing to it in the scholarly community. The HEdTPA project focuses on exploring higher education teachers’ professional agency in relation to learning in collaboration with HE students and colleagues. The project will be carried out using a systemic multimethod design, which utilises surveys, interviews, document analyses and direct, authentic measures. The HEdTPA project builds a novel theoretical framework for understanding HE teacher learning by exploring the structure and function of the professional agency of higher education teachers.
Centre for University Teaching and Learning invites applications for
TWO DOCTORAL STUDENT POSITIONS
for a fixed term from April 1, 2020 to December 31, 2022 at the HEdTPA project.
The primary duty of the doctoral students is to work on their doctoral thesis. Their other duties include assisting in research as well as teaching.
The appointees must have a capacity for independent research, excellent cooperation skills, the willingness to conduct multimethod research on learning and a degree applicable to research on learning and teaching (a master’s degree or equivalent, for example, in education, educational psychology, psychology or social psychology). The ability to use quantitative research methods and experience in conducting quantitative research will be considered an asset. The positions require oral and written communication skills in English.
The appointees need not hold a right to study at the University of Helsinki at the beginning of their employment, but they must apply for this right and obtain it during their trial period for the position. There is a six-month trial period for each position.
Each appointee’s starting salary will be 2,300 - 3,200, euros/month gross, depending on the person’s qualifications and previous experience.
