The group of Eija Jokitalo is inviting applications for a
Postdoctoral researcher in cell biology
for 2 years fixed term (with 6 month trial period) starting from August 15, 2018 (or later by agreement).

The successful candidate will join a compact research team in the analysis of structure-function relationship of membranes and organelles, using endoplasmic reticulum as a model organelle. The main aim of the group is to understand how different ER structures are formed and maintained and how these structural subdomains contribute to various ER functions. We employ wide selection of imaging techniques as well as various cell biological and biochemical techniques, screening approaches, and customized image processing tools for quantitative image analysis. The group operates side by side with the Electron microscopy core facility of the HiLIFE.

The applicant is required to hold PhD in cell biology, biochemistry, or a related field, as well as strong written and oral communication skills. The working language of the lab is English; knowledge of the Finnish language is not necessary. Experience in cell biology is required, experience in various imaging techniques and neurobiology is an advantage. The salary is based on level 5 of the job requirement scheme for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance.
