Institute of Biotechnology (BI) is a part of Helsinki Institute of Life Science HiLIFE, with a mission to increase knowledge in biotechnology and integrative biology and use this for the benefit of society. BI aims to strengthen its position as an international outstanding research institute in biosciences profiled through high impact research and renowned scientists and to develop as an international, competitive and rewarding workplace sought after as a collaboration partner within the university and internationally.
BI was established in 1989 and is located on the Viikki Life Sciences Campus. The staff of ca. 300 is very international representing over 30 countries and consisting of researchers at all career stages, as well as technicians and supporting staff. BI is a founding member of Biocenter Finland, a national alliance coordinating biosciences through shared technologies, education and services. BI collaborates extensively with university faculties and other research units on campus in research and education of Masters and graduate students, and taking science to the society.

Post-doctoral position for the study of mitochondrial membrane protein functions
for a period of May 1, 2017 to August 31, 2018
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and interactive candidate with experience in cell biology.
Candidates with experience in mitochondrial biology are particularly encouraged to apply. Good communication skills in English are important.
The salary will be paid according to the YPJ salary system for Finnish Universities, requirement level 5: The salary is determined by the qualifications and work experience of the applicant and varies from 3.300 to 3.500 euros per month.
