Later this month, a delegation of senior researchers from a leading Chinese think tank, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), will visit Finland.
The visiting Chinese delegation will be headed by the Director of the CASS Institute of Law, Professor Li Lin, and include other leading Chinese legal academics such as Professor Xie Zengyi. The delegation will contribute to the bilateral seminar between China and Finland. The large-scale seminar has been organized and planned by Professor Ulla Liukkunen, Director of the Finnish Centre of Chinese Law and Chinese Legal Culture (Finnish China Law Center).
According to Professor Kimmo Nuotio, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Helsinki and Chairman of the Board of the Finnish China Law Center, the visit underscores the deep relationship and growing collaboration between Finnish and Chinese research institutions.
"We are very happy indeed to welcome once again our Chinese partners to Finland to continue our discussions on topics that are of interest for both of us. Over the years we have been able to cover already a variety of topics."

Professor Ulla Liukkunen, Director of the Finnish China Law Center, says that the annual bilateral seminars have become an important platform for comparative dialogue between Finnish and Chinese legal scholars.
"Yearly exchange of information and ideas enables us to build stronger research connections between our two countries", Professor Liukkunen says.
This year's bilateral law seminar will focus on child law, transport law, public procurement and environmental law. But the Chinese legal academy's interest in the Finnish legal system extends further afield.
"The Chinese are particularly interested in the Arctic and the Nordic welfare state. Research on fundamental labour rights and collective labour law are also seen as important", Professor Ulla Liukkunen says.
Stuart Mooney, the new Coordinator of the Finnish China Law Center, says the seminar shows the special role played by the Finnish China Law Center not just in Finland, but globally. "It's important to continue the pioneering work of the Finnish China Law Center and to further strengthen relationships between Finnish and Chinese universities and research institutions".
