The UNITED FOR UKRAINE event, taking place on Ukraine’s Independence Day, Monday 24 August at 5pm at Senate Square, will celebrate vibrant Ukrainian culture through live music performances and a dance performance by Ukrainian children, while also expressing support for Ukraine’s independence and a lasting peace solution.
Greetings will be delivered by Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, Archbishop Tapio Luoma, and Deputy Mayor of Helsinki Johanna Laisaari.
Sunflowers, Ukraine’s national flower, will be distributed to participants at the event.
At the end of the event at Senate Square, the Ukrainian community will form a large procession leading all interested participants along Aleksanterinkatu to Kansalaistori (Citizens’ Square), where the Ukrainian national anthem will be performed.
The UNITED FOR UKRAINE event is organized by the Evangelic Lutheran Church in Helsinki and the Association of Ukrainians in Finland in cooperation with the City of Helsinki, the University of Helsinki, the Prime Minister’s Office of Finland, and the Embassy of Ukraine.
