Professor Robert Weibel, University of Zurich, will serve as the opponent, and Professor Tuuli Toivonen as the custos.

Miia Salminen, FM will defend the doctoral dissertation entitled "Remote sensing of snow: Factors influencing seasonal snow mapping in boreal forest region" (Lumen kaukokartoitus: Kausittaisen lumipeitteen kartoitukseen vaikuttavat tekijät boreaalisella metsävyöhykkeellä) in the Faculty of Science, University of Helsinki, on 10 November 2017 at 12:00. Professor Julienne Stroeve, University College London, will serve as the opponent, and Professor Petri Pellikka as the custos.
