Busy with conferences this summer

The summer conference season has ended with a happy note: Unni Pulliainen won the AllGenetics Award 2018 in the European Meeting of PhD Students in Evolutionary Biology held at Bubion in Spain (in picture). She charmed the jury with a talk presenting her whole PhD about Brood recognition in ants. Congratulations!

The ESB researchers attended a wide variety of conferences this summer. The season started with the Conference on Biology & Genomics of Social Insects in Cold Spring Harbor, New Your, where everyone were excited about novel genomic methods. Following the good start, August was packed with three conferences, and some of us had a hard time choosing which one to attend: International Union for the Study of Social Insects organized the 18th worldwide congress in Guarujá, where it was possible not only to learn about these insects, but also to see the amazing Brazilian species in real life. The meeting of the International Society for Behavioral Ecology in Minneapolis, and the Joint Congress on Evolutionary Biology in Montpellier, were also very much enjoyed by our researchers. We thank all the organizers for an amazing conference summer!

The winter conference season is about to start in a few weeks with the Finnish Symposium for Molecular Ecology and Evolution, this time in Jyväskylä. ESB will be strongly present.
