Shengyu is supervised by Sanja Hakala, Katja Rönkä and Kaisa Raatikainen.
Shengyu is a student in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Master's programme at the University of Helsinki. He has a quite broad research interest. He previously conducted several genetics research projects about white birch in his Bachelor's study. Currently, he is working on his Master's thesis project - Species misidentification in ecological research. It's interdisciplinary research aiming to investigate the incidence of errors in species identification at different stages in the course of ecological study and ecologists' view about the importance of species error recognition.
