I am here with a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service's program RISE that helps bachelor students in the fields of natural sciences and engineering to gain first work experience at scienctific institutions.
Since I have not had the chance to contribute to a research project yet, I am looking forward to the new challenge of working on a project in this group. As an intern in the SpeciAnt team I am trying to add to the understanding of the genetics of speciation in hybrid Formica ants by characterizing the evolutionary history of candidate speciation genes. My work is under supervision of Jonna Kulmuni and Pierre Nouhaud, who have studied the ants in question extensively.
