The QS World University Rankings by Subject evaluate universities in individual subject areas, based on academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations per paper and the h-index (read more about the ranking criteria).
Antti Räsänen, dean of the Faculty of Theology, is pleased about the result.
“Great result! I’m really pleased that our faculty climbed up to be among the best 50 institutions in theology, divinity and religious studies in the QS ranking by subject. This is the result of long-term effort: We have focused on research, international engagement and the work community. The latter was chosen as a focus area because we think that the best results are achieved in a creative community that fosters trust and a positive atmosphere.”
Dean Räsänen wishes to thank the entire staff of the faculty - each teacher, researcher and administrator - for the successful result.
“I believe that our high-quality research, including the Academy of Finland Centres of Excellence, other international research groups as well as individual contacts and visiting scholars, are what makes the Faculty of Theology at the University of Helsinki attractive. Apparently, we have succeeded in other areas as well, since the faculty was ranked as an institution of good reputation with an esteemed academic community and a pleasant work environment.”
The Faculty of Theology also fared well in the assessment of research at the University of Helsinki, conducted between 2018 and 2019 (read more in Finnish: Teologiselle tiedekunnalle erinomaiset tulokset tutkimuksen arvioinnissa).
