The Master's Programme in Urban Studies and Planning received excellent applications from over 40 countries. After going through them, we were happy to accept a total of 56 students. Congratulations!
- University of Helsinki admitted 35 students from four different faculties: Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Biological and Environmenal Sciences.
- Aalto University admitted 21 students from two schools: School of Arts, Design and Architecture and School of Engineering
University of Helsinki admitted a total of 674 students to its international master’s programmes starting in autumn 2018. They represent 66 different nationalities. For the first steps, new students are advised to follow the university's instructions through the links on this Welcome to Helsinki -website.
Take a look on the exciting things USP students have done during the programme's first academic year on the News-section of this website. The year has included for example international hot talks, practical studio-work and an excursion to China. Also, it's a good idea to familiriaze yourself with the programme sturcture already at this stage.
Mesta ry welcomes new USP students
Mesta ry is an organization for the USP students in both the University of Helsinki and Aalto University. The main aim of Mesta ry is to promote transdisciplinary cooperation between different fields related to urban studies and planning. We advocate for students in both universities, organize recreational events, take part in public discussion on urban topics and provide our members opportunities to learn and develop their skills both as students and practitioners.
We warmly welcome all new USP students to Mesta activities! These include e.g.:

- Newbie picnic in August
