In her PhD Ina will explore the genetic background of divergence and speciation. She uses an interdisciplinary approach and combine network theory with evolutionary biology to test if gene interaction networks maintain divergence and underlie speciation. The process of speciation creates novel biodiversity, so understanding it is increasingly important given the speed of environmental changes that threaten the biodiversity!
