Professor Veli-Matti Kerminen awarded for advancement of aerosol research

The highly-cited researcher focuses on aerosol-climate impacts.

Nordic Society for Aerosol Research has given the Aerosologist award to University of Helsinki professor Veli-Matti Kerminen. He received the award for his contributions to advancement of aerosol research and for support of Nordic collaboration.

Professor Kerminen works at Institute for Atmospheric and Earth System Research (INAR). His research focuses on aerosol particles, specifically on their formation mechanisms, aerosol-cloud interactions and aerosol-climate impacts.

In years 2014-2016 Kerminen was recognized as Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researcher in recognition of being ranked among the top 1 per cent of researchers in the field of Geosciences.  He was also a lead author of the fifth Assessment Report (AR5) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Kerminen received the award on March 27th at the NOSA-FAAR symposium in Helsinki.
